Statement of purpose:
This position will exist to partner with parents to see that children come to KNOW Jesus Christ as Savior, to GROW as members of God's family, and to GO in service to our Lord.
Primary areas of oversight:
- Weekend service ministries for children.
- Midweek programming for the spiritual training of children.
- Outreach to children of the community.
- Encouragement and training of families in the raising of children.
- Development of-ministry opportunities for children.
Qualifications:
- One who knows Christ as their personal Savior and is established in their Christian walk, as demonstrated by sound doctrinal comprehension, a teachable spirit, and a lifestyle modeled after Jesus.
- One who has a passion for the Lord and a sense of calling to ministry to children and their families.
- One who has experience in both teaching children and administration of programs for children and families, and demonstrates that God has gifted him in these areas.
- One who places value on recruiting and training others to work in a team context to develop and maintain effective ministries.
- One who is vision oriented, and able to communicate that vision to others.
- One who can work well with members of the pastoral staff and church leadership.
- One who is willing to serve in other church capacities as needed as a part of being on the pastoral ministry team of KBC.
- One who is in total agreement with the Evangelical Free Church Statement of Faith.
Responsibilities:
- Will partner with weekend Sunday school coordinators to oversee ministry to children from birth through 5th grade during weekend services, including the spiritual guidance in selection of teaching curriculum and administrative support in organizing groups.
- Will partner with midweek program coordinators to oversee midweek outreach and discipleship ministry to children from preschool through 6th grade, using AWANA or another format with emphasis on relational communication of spiritual truth and life application of this truth, and on Bible study and memorization.
- Will partner with ministry coordinators to recruit and train volunteers to serve in ministry to children during weekend services and midweek programs.
- Will provide opportunities for children to reach out to unchurched friends in the community and invite them to attractive, visitor-friendly church activities.
- Will partner with summer ministry coordinators to develop and implement summer programming to encourage both outreach and spiritual growth of children of Kenosha Bible and the surrounding community.
- Will provide opportunities, training and tools for parents to instruct their children in spiritual matters as instructed in Deuteronomy 6.
- Will provide regular opportunities for families to connect and learn spiritual truths together.
- Will develop opportunities for children and their families to serve in ministry to the KBC church family and to the community as age appropriate.
- Will regularly communicate with the families involved in any aspect of KBC's ministry to children and families to encourage, edify and inform of upcoming ministries and events.
- Will work with the Pastor of Student Ministries to coordinate transition of kids from children's to youth ministries.
- Will participate in weekly staff meetings to discuss plans and objectives regarding the ministries of the church.
- Will provide a monthly report to the Senior Pastor and church leadership on the status and progress within Children’s Ministries.
- Will prepare an annual financial budget for the above ministries and oversee all spending within this budget.
- Will oversee the administration of the child protection policy, including training and screening of all staff and volunteers who work with children and youth.
